Customize your community

This guide will walk you through different ways to personalize the look and feel of your community. If you have a separate website, this should inspire ways to make your community look more familiar.

General: Navigate to community Settings. This page gives you control over your presence and some of the most basic settings. Here, you can give your community a name, set the URL, default language, control visibility, set brand colors, and choose some default spaces.

Emojis: When editing or creating a space, click on the hashtag icon next to the space name to pop open the emoji picker and select one that fits the mood of the space. Have fun with it!

Custom Domains: You can set up a custom domain that will redirect to your community. Click here for more information.

Onboarding: Send customized onboarding messages, pop-ups, and invitations! These personalized messages can welcome members, provide additional resources, and encourage engagement. Click here for more information.

Links: You also have the ability to create custom external links right from your community sidebar. Point these to helpful documents or other resources that may be helpful to members.

Pinned Posts: Pin posts to the top of a space, or within the sidebar to call out important information for your members. For more information about pinning posts, click here.

Code Snippets: This feature gives you the ability to add custom code snippets inside the <head> tag on your community. Add services like Google Analytics and your Facebook Pixel for tracking purposes, or even do some custom styling with CSS.

To add custom JavaScript/CSS code inside the <head> tag on all pages in your community, navigate to the Code snippets. Click your community name or logo—or the dropdown icon next to it—in the top-left of the navigation header and select Site. From the sidebar menu, select Code snippets.

❗ Important: If you encounter broken CSS within your community due to custom code snippets, you can quickly resolve this by temporarily deactivating custom code snippets. For detailed instructions, refer to Fix broken CSS caused by custom code snippets.

Member Tags: Create fun member tags! These can be visible to all members, or only admins. They're a great way to know who's who. For more information about setting up member tags, click here.

Embed: Embed the comments section of an accessible Circle post to external websites, blog posts, course lectures, etc. Embedding your Circle comments lets your members carry over their Circle identity to other external interaction points in your stack, such as blog posts and course lectures, and amplifies community engagement.

Zapier: Circle is available on Zapier, allowing you to connect Circle to thousands of other apps! This can take your community to the next level by building automatic workflows that integrate with other systems you already have in place. An example would be triggering a member invite after a specific event. Click here to learn more!

These are a few ways to get started. Want to share what you're working on? Show off your community with other Circlers here!
