Update published events
Last updated: September, 2026
You can update published events at any time. This article explains how to edit both single events and recurring event series.
About event updates
Once you’ve created an event, you may need to make updates, like changing the schedule, adjusting details, or managing your attendees. You can do all of this from the event editor.
Some updates also trigger automatic attendee notifications. If you change the date, time, or location of an event, attendees who RSVP’d will automatically receive an email with the attached refreshed calendar invite (ICS file).
Who can update events
Admins, event space moderators, and the event host can make changes to the event using the desktop app, web app, or a mobile browser.
Access the event editor
To access the event setup:
Click Community in the left sidebar, then select Spaces.
Click the space name to open the event space and locate the event. If your event is still in draft, you can use the category dropdown at the top of the space to access all drafts.
Locate the event and click More actions (three dots) next to the event and select Edit event.
This will open the event editor. Here, you’ll see all the options you originally set up when creating the event.
Some settings can always be updated, like the description or guest list.
Other settings may be restricted after publishing, depending on whether your event is paid or free, and whether it’s a single event or part of a recurring series.
Edit a single event
Inside the editor, navigate to the tab where you want to make changes.
Overview: Access event information and relevant links, including event URL (link to the event details page) and Circle live URLs.
-
People: Manage your guest list effortlessly. This includes manually adding or removing attendees and exporting a list of attendees. For more information, see:
-
Basic info: Change the core details of your event:
Update the cover image, title, description, topics, schedule, and location.
Change the Host of the event. You can also assign your member as an event host. Once designated as a host, the member will be able to manage the event.
Switch between a free and paid event registration.
When you update the event start time or location, an automated email will be sent to event attendees notifying them of the change.
Notifications: Fine-tune notification preferences for event confirmation and customize the thank-you message.
Reminders: Customize your reminder preferences, add email reminders, and manage email reminder schedules.
Advanced: Update advanced settings such as permissions and SEO.
Edit recurring events
Recurring events give you flexibility, but editing them works a little differently than editing single events. Whenever you make a change, you’ll be asked how far you want the change to apply.
You may see one, two, or all three of these options depending on what you’re editing:
This event: Apply changes only to the event you’re currently editing.
This and following events: Opt for this if you want to apply changes to the event you’re currently editing and all the future ones in the series.
All events: Apply changes to every event in the entire recurring series.
Let’s review which options will be available to you depending on the changes.
Making changes to event basics
In the Basic info tab, you can edit details under Date & Time and Location sections similar to single events. For example, you might want to update the event name, description, or location.
For these changes, you’ll be able to choose This event, This and following events, or All events.
ℹ️ Note: You cannot switch between free and paid events once the recurring event series is published.
Changing event schedule
You can change the schedule of an event in the recurring series. You can modify the date, time and the repeat frequency.
ℹ️ Note: You cannot change the end configuration (how and when the series ends) once the series is published.
For example, imagine you published a series of 10 events, all scheduled on Wednesdays. If you want to move them to Mondays, starting with the second event, you can edit the second event’s schedule and apply the change to This and following events.
When making changes to the schedule, you will be presented with the following options:
Changing only date and time: When you change only the date and/time of the event, you will be presented with both the This event and This and following events options.
Changing the repeats schedule: If you change the original repeat schedule, you will need to apply the changes to This and following events.
Let’s see how these changes will be applied:
-
This event: Choose this option to only change the date and time of the event you are editing. We will keep the order of the other events in the series as it is.
After selecting this, click Accept, review the new schedule, and then click Update schedule to confirm.
Attendees will automatically get an updated calendar invite by email.
💡 Tip: Avoid editing too many individual events this way, as it may cause issues with attendees’ calendar syncs.
-
This and following events: Choose this option to apply your schedule changes to the event you are editing and all future events after it. This action will split your original series into two separate event series.
The event you are editing and the following events will become part of the new series and follow the new schedule. Past event RSVPs to these events will remain unchanged.
Those who RSVP’d to upcoming events will receive two emails: one notifying the change, and another confirming their spot in the new series.
Going forward, new attendees will need to RSVP to these series separately from the original event series.
Updating event post details
When you update the cover image or description, you will be presented with all three options, providing flexibility to update either the event you are currently editing or the event series.
Updating the event attendees
You can manage attendees for your event from the People tab in the event editor. This is where you can add new attendees, remove existing ones, or assign co-hosts (for Circle live streams). These changes only affect the attendee list for the event you are currently editing, not the entire series.
If you adjust the Automatically RSVP invited attendees toggle, you’ll be asked how broadly you want to apply that setting, such as This event, This and following events, or All events.
📚 To learn more about adding and managing event attendees and how the Automatically RSVP invited attendees toggle setting works, see:
Making changes to the notifications, reminders, and advanced settings
When you update notifications or advanced settings, you can choose how broadly the changes apply:
This event
This and following events
All events
For reminders:
Enabling or disabling the Send in-app reminder an hour before the event and Send email reminders toggle follows the same behavior as notifications. You can apply the toggle changes to This event, This and following events, or All events in the series.
Individual email reminders that you add or edit within the Email schedule section apply only to the event you are editing. These email reminder changes do not carry over to other events in the series.
