Understanding course publication

This article will help you understand the mechanism of the course publication in your community.

When you create a course space in the community, it is automatically set to draft mode, allowing you to work on the course privately and at your own pace before making it visible. This provides you with the benefit of building and polishing your course before you publish it in the community.

There are three main elements to the course space in draft mode:

Course space is kept secret from all members of your community. Only community admins and space/space group moderators can view and access the course space.

Members added to the course space are placed on a waitlist and cannot see the course until it is published.

When you publish an individual lesson or quiz in your course sections, it remains secret and only visible to admins or space/space group moderators.

Our course space is designed to be highly flexible when it comes to publication. You can publish the course in your community by selecting one of the access levels for your course. This makes the course visible in your community, depending on the access level you choose.

Regardless of the course space's accessibility and drip configuration for each section, lessons and quizzes are completely independent. Whether you have published a course in your community, released a section immediately upon enrollment, or released a section using drip configuration, lessons and quizzes within a section are only visible to students when they are set to published status.

To provide an enrolled student with access to all lessons and quizzes with a section, the following criteria must be met:

• The course is published (course space set to open, private, or secret).

• The section containing lessons and quizzes is available. If your course type is structured or scheduled, the section is either available immediately or already dripped.

• All individual lessons and quizzes within the section are set to published status.
