Pinning a post

Last updated: September 25, 2023

Pinning a post can be a handy feature when you want to highlight an important post or keep a specific announcement at the forefront of your community space.

We provide two options for pinning posts within your space: Pin post to space and Pin post to the sidebar.

ℹ️ Note: It’s important to note that both of these options can only be managed through a browser on a desktop or mobile device.

Pin a post to space

Showcase one of your posts to the front and center by pinning it at the top of your space at any given time. This option is available for all space layouts.

To pin a post to space:

  1. Navigate to the space and locate the post.

  2. Click the More actions (three dots) icon next to the post title and turn on the Pin to top toggle. If you had a different post pinned earlier, this new post will automatically take its place as a new pinned post.

💡 Tip: You can also access both pinning options from post settings when editing a post.

Pin post to the sidebar

For spaces utilizing the Feed and List layouts, you have an additional option available to pin multiple posts to the Pinned posts block located in the right sidebar.

To pin a post to the sidebar:

  1. Navigate to the space and locate the post.

  2. Click the More actions (three dots) icon next to the post title and turn on the Pin to sidebar toggle. The post will appear at the top of the Pinned posts block.

💡 Tip: You can also rename the block's title per your preference by visiting the Options tab in the space settings.

It's important to note that the sort order in the Pinned posts block in the sidebar is automated and determined by two factors: the order in which you pinned the post and any modifications made within the post. Here's how it works:

  • Pin order: When you pin a post to the sidebar, it automatically appears at the top of the block.

  • Post edits: If you edit a post that is already pinned to the sidebar, any changes you make will cause the post to automatically move to the top of the sidebar block.
