Get to know marketing automations
Last updated: January 03, 2025
Marketing automations allow you to create streamlined workflows that engage your audience without constant hands-on.
About marketing automations
Once your community has enabled Email Hub, you can build custom workflows utilizing triggers, audience rules, and actions dedicated to marketing automations. These workflows streamline your marketing efforts by automating personalized email journeys, onboarding sequences, and targeted communications.
You can utilize all types of workflows to achieve this.
Automation workflows: Automation workflows put your marketing efforts on autopilot. For example, when someone subscribes to your email list by submitting a form, the workflow can automatically send a welcome email, assign tags, or initiate a follow-up sequence. This helps reduce manual work and ensures timely, consistent engagement.
Bulk action and scheduled workflows: Bulk action workflows allow you to run actions on an audience based on the audience rules immediately or on a scheduled basis. For instance, you can schedule recurring workflows to send targeted emails to a group of contacts based on specific audience rules.
Key things to know about marketing automations
Member-only actions: Some actions in workflows, such as sending DMs are only supported for members. If non-members are included in the workflow, only actions relevant to non-members will be performed, and member-only actions will appear as "failed" in the task history.
Send email actions: Please note that the workflow will only send an email to a contact. This means that even if the individual is part of the workflow but has unsubscribed from marketing emails, the email will not be sent to them.
Availability
When you enable the Email Hub within your community, triggers, audience rules, and actions associated with marketing automations become available. If you're on the Professional plan, you can access all workflow types, but the available actions will be limited to those specific to the Email Hub.
Let’s take a look at a detailed breakdown of available triggers, audience rules, and actions based on your community plan:
Triggers and audience rules: Communities on all plans have access to all available triggers and audience rules within workflows, provided they are subscribed to Email Hub. This includes triggers for automation workflows and audience rules for bulk action workflows.

Professional plans: Communities on these plans can use the following actions within workflows if they have Email Hub enabled:
Send an email
Add tags
Remove tags
Time delay
Unsubscribe from email marketing
Business plans and higher: Communities subscribed to Business plans or above have access to the complete set of actions available in workflows.
-
❗ Important: The "Send an email" and “Unsubscribe from email marketing” actions are only available with Email Hub. If Email Hub is disabled in your community, you will no longer have access to this action regardless of your community plan. Furthermore, if you are using the "Form submitted" trigger in your automation workflow, it will no longer activate the workflow actions since forms are disabled and won’t receive any submissions.
