Within dedicated image space, you can share compelling images as a post to captivate your members. This article will guide you through the steps to create new image posts within the space.

To get started with post creation on a browser:

1. Click **Community** in the left sidebar, then select **Spaces**.

2. Locate the image space and click More actions (three dots) and select **View space.**

3. Click **New post** in the space header.

> 💡 **Tip:** To create a post using Circle’s iOS mobile app, tap ➕ icon on the control bar and select **Create image post**. In the post editor, you can select images from your device, adjust images, and add a caption similar to browser experiance. However, please note that you can only manage post settings or make edits through a browser.

## Step 1: Upload images

In the upload dialog, you can either drag and drop images from your desktop or click within the dialog to prompt the system file uploader.

Within a post, you can upload a maximum of ten images with an individual file size limit of 20 MB. We support both JPG and PNG file formats for the images.

## Step 2: Adjust images

After uploading your images, you can modify them, add or remove them, and rearrange their order.

### Adjust images

- **Adjust aspect ratio:** Select from preset aspect ratios of square (1:1), landscape (16:9), and portrait (4:5) by clicking the ratio icons located at the bottom-left of the image. Your selection will be applied to all images within the post.

- **Zoom in or out:** Utilize the slider located at the bottom-right corner of the image to zoom in or out as needed.

- **Fit image:** Click and drag the image to align and fit a specific portion within your chosen picture ratio.

### Add or remove images

If you change your mind, you can add or remove any existing images:

- **Add images:** Click the + icon at the bottom of the dialog to add more images. This opens your system uploader to select images from your device.

- **Remove images:** Hover over an image thumbnail at the bottom of the dialog and click the X icon to remove it if needed.

### Arrange images

The sequence of images in your post mirrors the arrangement of their thumbnails at the bottom of the post editor. You can easily organize these images according to your preference by simply dragging and dropping the thumbnails while creating or editing your posts.

Once the post is created, the images will display in the same order within the post.

After you have made all the adjustments, click **Next**.

## Step 3: Add a caption

A caption serves as a brief description or context accompanying your images in the post. It's an opportunity to enhance your content by providing additional information, context, or engaging commentary to complement the visuals.

In addition to text, you can enhance your captions in the following ways:

- **Formatting shortcuts:** Style your text by selecting the word(s) and utilizing the following keyboard shortcuts in the caption editor:

- **Lists:** Organize your content efficiently with these options:

- **Mentions:** To mention a member in your caption, simply type **@ followed by the member's** name.

- **Emojis:** Add personality and emotion into your captions by inserting emojis. Utilize the **Emoji** icon at the bottom of the editor or type " **:**" followed by the respective emoji title.

- **Hyperlink:** Create hyperlinks by selecting word(s) and using cmd/ctrl + V to paste the URL.

> 💡 Tip: To crop or remove any image, select the image from the thumbnails located at the bottom and then click **More actions (three dots)** on the top-right corner of the selected image.

## **Step 4: Assign topics**

To categorize your image post within the space using [topics](https://help.circle.so/p/basics/spaces/create-topics?locale=en), you can assign up to five relevant topics to the post.

To assign a topic, in the post editor, click the **Select topics** field or type the name of the topic in the field and select it from the list.

> 💡 **Tip** : If you’re an admin, you can create a new topic on the go while creating or editing a post. Write your desired topic name in the **Select topics** field and select the **Create topic** option. This will immediately create a new topic and add it to the post and space. For detailed information on managing topics, refer to our guide[](/p/basics/spaces/manage-topics)[here](/p/basics/spaces/manage-topics).

## **Step 5: Configure post options**

Once you've crafted your caption, it's time to configure various options for your post.

> ℹ️ **Note:** The ability to configure and manage post options is exclusive to community admins and moderators of the space.

### Set permissions

You have control over different settings to manage how your post appears and behaves, including:

- **Hide meta info** : Toggle on to hide the author and relative timestamp information.

- **Hide comments:** Turn this toggle on to hide existing comments and remove the option to comment on a post.

- **Close comments** : Enable this toggle to prevent members from leaving new comments under this post going forward. When enabled, the existing comments will still be visible, with a banner indicating that comments are closed.

- **Hide likes** : Toggle on to hide and disable likes.

- **Disable truncation** : Turn this toggle off to cut off longer posts and reduce them to a standard post’s size.

- **Hide from featured areas** : Enable this toggle to hide the posts from the [**Feed**](https://help.circle.so/p/basics/home) and [**weekly digest**](https://help.circle.so/p/audience/notifications).

- **Make images downloadable:** Enabled this to toggle a download option at the top-right corner of images, allowing members to download high-quality original image files.

### **Custom URL slug**

The ability to add a custom URL slug helps create SEO-friendly and descriptive URLs for your content. In the **Custom URL slug** field, assign a custom slug for your post. Please note that the first words of the post caption will be used as the URL slug if a custom slug is not specified.

For example, if your image space URL is [**https://community.circle.so/hiking**](https://community.circle.so/hiking**) and you published a post about hiking trails images, you might use a slug such as "best-hiking-trails-mountains" to form the URL for that specific post:

```
<https://community.circle.so/hiking/best-hiking-trails-mountains>
```

> ❗ **Important:** Please note that changing the URL slug of a post won't free up the previous slug for use in any other post. We maintain a record of the old slugs for a post and redirect any attempts to access the post via the old slug to the new one. This prevents one URL slug from pointing to multiple resources, ensuring clarity and accuracy of your community's content.
>
> As a result, if you try to use the old slug already associated with a post in any other post, we will append a unique identifier to the end of the slug. This practice is a safeguard to preserving the integrity of your community's content organization.

### **Author**

By default, the post author is set to the user who creates the post. However, you can manually assign a post author to any community member while creating or editing a post.

Simply type the member's name in the **Author** field and select from the list. If the member is not already part of the space, they will be automatically added to it.

> ℹ️ **Note:** When you assign a member as a post author, they gain certain privileges, including the ability to edit post content and delete the post.

## **Step 6: Post delivery**

It’s time to determine when and how your post should be delivered in your image space. You have three options:

- **Publish now:** If you're ready to share your post with the community, click **Publish** to make your post live in the space right away.

- **Save as draft:** If you're not ready to publish, click the dropdown icon beside **Publish** and select **Save draft**. Your work will be safely stored on the [**Posts**](https://help.circle.so/c/posts/how-do-i-manage-drafts-and-scheduled-posts) page for future editing and publishing.

- **Schedule post: ** To automatically publish the post at a specific time, click the dropdown icon beside **Publish** , ** ** select **Schedule post** , and set the desired date and time. You’ll have the option to edit or delete your post until it’s published. To learn more about managing scheduled posts, see [Manage drafts and scheduled posts](/p/posts/post-spaces/manage-drafts-and-scheduled-posts).

> ℹ️ **Note:** The option to schedule or save a post as a draft is exclusive to community admins and moderators of the space.

> 🔔 **Notifications:** After the image post is published, space members will receive a notification about the new post based on their [**notification preferences**](/p/audience/notifications). You can reset this notification preference for space members by visiting the image space settings. For more information, see [Bulk reset notifications for post and event space members](/p/audience/notifications).
