We're thrilled you're considering purchasing a community membership! To help ensure you stay connected, we've compiled this article to help explain why your payment might have failed and what you can do.

## 3D Secure

To protect your account, our payment processor (Stripe) may require an extra layer of authentication (known as 3D Secure) to complete your transaction.

This check might involve verifying a transaction amount, performing two-factor authentication, or an automated check to confirm your identity as the genuine cardholder making the payment. The specific process varies among banks and is determined by their policies. Once you successfully complete this verification, you will be charged the original payment amount for the membership.

If your payment failed due to an incomplete or incorrect 3D Secure attempt, here’s what you can do to resolve this:

- **Check for a Verification Request** : Please look for an authentication prompt from your card issuer. You may need to verify the transaction via a code sent to your phone or by approving it through your banking app.

- **Retry Your Payment** : Simply log back into your account and retry your payment. This time, ensure you follow any prompts for 3D Secure authentication.

- **Contact Your Bank** : If you’re unsure whether your card supports 3D Secure or if the issue persists, please contact your bank for assistance.

## Generic errors

If there is a generic processing error that does not fall under any other category, you will see the following error:

> We're sorry, something went wrong. Please try again.

In this case, we recommend the following steps:

- Wait a few minutes, then try the payment again.

- Try to complete the payment using a different card.

- Contact your issuing bank for more information.

## Incorrect card details

When checking out on a community checkout page, it's important to enter the correct card details. Otherwise, you will receive the following error:

> We're sorry, there was an issue processing your payment. Please verify your information and try again, or use a different payment method.

In this case, we recommend attempting the payment again and ensuring the card details have been entered correctly.

## Payment not confirmed

If you do not complete all the confirmation steps for a payment, you will receive the following error:

> We're sorry, there was an error processing your payment. Please confirm your payment and try again.

In this case, we recommend trying the payment again and ensuring you complete all the necessary steps.

If you continue experiencing trouble completing a community membership purchase, please contact a community admin for assistance.
