Now that you have joined the affiliate program, get ready to start your affiliate journey by sharing referral links and watching your commissions grow! In this article, we will walk you through sharing your referral links and tracking conversions in your affiliate dashboard.

## About referral links

After completing the onboarding process for the affiliate program, you'll gain access to two types of unique referral links, depending on how the admin has set up the program:

- **Direct purchase link** : You'll have access to default direct purchase links for each paywall included in the affiliate program. These links are essentially paywall checkout URLs appended with your unique affiliate code.

- **Promotional link:** If the admin has set up the promotional URL in your affiliate program, you can access this link, which is appended with your unique affiliate code. This URL usually points to a website, landing page, or sales page that provides detailed information about all paywall offerings linked to paywall checkout URLs.

To ensure you receive credit for your referrals, it's crucial to share these unique links.

For example, a referral URL with your unique code might look like this:

```
https://community.circle.so/checkout/basic-membership?affiliate_code=dcaf27
```

## How do we track your referrals

For tracking purposes, we follow the **Last cookie** rule. This means that if the user had multiple affiliate links, the affiliate link they last used for the purchase would earn the commission.

Suppose James clicks Arjun's affiliate link (direct purchase link) to explore the community membership but doesn't make a purchase. A few days later, he came across your post on Twitter containing the community membership link. This time, he completes the transaction for the paywall subscription to this community. As a result, you will receive a commission for the sale.

The cookie is tied to the browser and device. It stays in the user’s browser for **90 days**. So if a purchase happens after 90 days, the cookie has expired and won’t count towards the commission.

If the user switches to a different browser or device, that original cookie won’t be there, and the referral won’t apply unless they use your referral link again.

## Copy referral links

When promoting the community online via social media platforms, blogs, email, and platforms like YouTube, it's a great idea to include your referral links.

### How to access the affiliate dashboard

1. Open your community in the desktop app or a browser. Please note that this dashboard is not available on mobile apps.

2. Click your profile photo on the top navigation bar and select **Affiliate**.

In your affiliate dashboard, you'll find key information, including:

- The commission rate you will be receiving for referrals.

- The option to copy referral links.

- Details about each conversion stemming from your shared links.

### Direct purchase links

To copy the direct purchase link for one of the available paywalls, select the paywall from the dropdown menu in the **Direct purchase link** section and then click **Copy link**.

When a different commission structure applies to a particular paywall, you'll find the commission information hyperlinked under the **Direct purchase link** section when selecting that specific paywall. Click the hyperlink to access the detailed commission structure for that paywall.

### Promotional link

Similarly, to copy the promotional link, simply click **Copy link** in the promotional link section.

## View referral activity

In your affiliate dashboard, you can see your referral activity categorized into various tabs based on its commission status. Within these tabs, you can view details, including:

- Purchase date

- Name of the customer

- Product

- Purchase amount

- Commission

- Commission status

If a member is subscribed to a community paywall that involves recurring payments or installments, you will see those payments along with the commission amount here.
