This article will walk you through how moderation works in your live sessions and how to assign moderators.

## **Get to know ‌live moderation**

Live moderators play an important role in helping you manage the live stream or room session, so you can focus on sharing content instead of juggling multiple tasks.

> ℹ️ **Note:** The ability to moderate a live session is currently only available on desktop and mobile browsers.

> ❗ **Important:** Please note that the role of live moderator is temporary and only applies to the specific stream or room.

Live moderators can help you create a successful session by carrying out a range of tasks, including:

- Facilitating conversations in the chat.

- Removing inappropriate chat messages.

- Posting important announcements on your behalf using chat.

- Helping participants with any issues during the stream.

- Managing to manage co-hosts and participants in the live session.

> ℹ️ **Note:** While moderators can manage participants and chat in a live session, please keep in mind that their microphone and camera will be disabled. If a member is a participant in the live room or co-host of the live stream and becomes a moderator, their speaker tile will be removed from the screen as well.

## **Assign live moderators**

During your live session, you can assign any participant as a moderator. If you want to appoint someone who isn't currently in the live session, ask them to join first.

To assign a live moderator in both stream and room:

1. On the control bar, click **Participants** 👥. The **Participants** panel will appear on the right side.

2. Hover over the co-host or participant and click **More actions (three dots)** and select **Make moderator.**

Once you have made the participant a moderator, they'll be moved to the **Moderators** section in the **Participants** panel and assigned a moderator badge. Moderators will also see a banner displaying a message that they are assigned as a moderator.

> 💡 **Tip:** When you are backstage in the live stream, you can also make any co-host a moderator following the same steps mentioned above.
