# Managing the course directory

The course directory helps members easily navigate your community’s learning spaces. As an admin, you can manage how courses and topics appear in the directory and configure course labels to create a more organized and intuitive experience.

To access various directory options, follow these steps:

1. Go to the  **Courses**  tab from the top navigation bar using the desktop app or a web browser. If you've [**customized**](https://help.circle.so/p/basics/customization/manage-links-on-the-top-navigation-bar?locale=en#edit-links) the name of the course directory link, the updated name will appear on the navigation bar instead.  
❗️ **Important:** The top navigation bar may not be visible when using Circle AI. To access it, click your community name in the top-left corner of the Circle AI workspace and select **Back to community**. This takes you back to the community view, where you can access the top navigation bar and course directory.

2. Click the **More actions (three dots icon)** located in the right corner of the directory navigation bar and select  **Options**.

1. After making your changes (explained in this article), click  **Save**  to apply them.

## **Re-order topic navigation**

The course directory displays all the topics you've added across your courses. You can rearrange these topics to control the order in which they appear, helping you prioritize the most relevant ones on the topic navigation bar.

In the  **Re-order topic navigation**  section, you'll see a list of topics in their current display order. Click and hold a topic, then drag and drop it to your preferred position.

This affects the horizontal topic navigation visible in the course directory.

## Customize course labels

You can update the global terminology used for courses displayed to your members. For example, rename “Section” and “Lesson” to terms that better reflect your course format, such as “Module” and “Activity.”

In the  **Customize course labels**  section, use the dropdown menus to select from predefined label options.

> ℹ️  **Note:** If you have overridden the global setting for labels by setting up specific labels for a course, the changes you make here will not be applied to those course spaces.

## Re-order courses

You can set the order in which courses appear in the course directory. This is useful if you have multiple courses you want to reorder.

To rearrange the order of your courses:

1. Go to the **Re-order course**  **directory** section.

2. Click and hold the course name, then drag and drop the course to a preferred position.
