The Circle team takes care of all maintenance for your branded app, including updating and creating release notes when new version updates are required. We update your branded app in two different ways:

- Over-the-air (OTA)

- New versions

## **Over-the-air (OTA)**

An OTA update delivers changes directly to the user's device on the current app version. Changes are reflected immediately without requiring the user to manually update the app via the App or Play Stores. We use OTA updates for any minor changes and small feature releases.

You and your members will see a banner at the top of the screen to indicate there’s a new version available. By tapping that banner, your app will refresh with the latest version. You can anticipate OTA updates weekly.

## **New versions**

A new version update requires the user to manually update the app via the App/Play Store. We submit new version updates for big feature releases, structural changes, [app design or app store listing changes](/p/branded-apps/account-and-app-management), specific bug fixes, and to stay in compliance with Apple or Google requirements.

Unlike OTA updates, version updates occur at sporadic intervals, so we strongly recommend that you keep your developer accounts in good standing with both programs. Account owners should watch for messaging from Apple and Google regarding new license agreements, account verifications, or documentation you need to provide since these can prevent us from being able to update your apps.

New versions require approval from Apple and Google. As a result, applying such changes may take a few days to reflect. Most updates are approved within two business days, but it can take longer depending on the reviewer. When a new version is required, the Circle team will notify you via email so you can inform your members to update their app to the latest version once available.
