When it comes to onboarding new members to your community, it’s important to have a clear plan for granting them access to community content. Circle provides several flexible onboarding options tailored to your unique use cases, giving you greater flexibility.

ℹ️ Before proceeding with this guide, we suggest familiarizing yourself with the following:

- Understand two access levels we offer in the community as described in [Understanding invite access and paywall access methods](/p/audience/onboarding/understanding-invite-access-and-paywall-access-methods).

- Set up a [**test member account**](/p/audience/onboarding) in the community. This will help you test your configurations and understand the flow from a member's perspective.

> ❗ **Important:** Please note that the chat spaces has a limit of 10,000 members at a time to ensure a meaningful and manageable interaction experience for everyone. If the chat space has already reached its maximum capacity, new members will not be able to join the space, even if it is included in their community access. However, members can still sign up and access other spaces based on the access they have received via sign-up method.

Let’s take a look at all the onboarding options categorized into the following:

- Offer free access or create a paywall trial

- Share paywall checkout URL

## **Offer free access or create a paywall trial**

When you wish to grant your new members free access to any content, you can use one of our built-in invitation methods or integration with tools such as Zapier.

If you have set up paywalls in your community, you can also use the built-in invitation methods to create a subscription trial with the custom trial duration on behalf of your members.

These methods include:

- Invites

- Invitation links

- Integrations

> ℹ️ **Note:** In addition to the various invitation methods available, you can also opt to enable sign-ups for your public community. For private communities, you have the option to establish a custom sign-up link, allowing prospects to register via a custom URL. For more information on setting this up, we suggest referring to the following guides:
>
> - [Set up a public community](/p/basics/community-access/set-up-a-public-community)
>
> - [Set up a private community](/p/basics/community-access/set-up-a-private-community)

### **Invites**

Our invite feature helps you invite individuals or multiple members together. When utilizing the invite, you can choose the following option:

- **Enter manually** : This option allows you to manually enter member information. You can also use it to enter information for multiple members and invite them together.

- **Import CSV** : This option enables you to invite members in bulk by importing a CSV file.

When inviting members, you can:

- Assign member tags.

- Provide admin privileges.

- Assign members as moderators of specific spaces or space groups.

- Provide members with access (free access) to spaces and space groups.

- Create a paywall trial with a custom trial duration on behalf of members.

📚 For a step-by-step guide on sending invites, see [Invite members to your community](https://help.circle.so/p/audience/onboarding/send-an-invitation-to-add-a-member-to-your-community?locale=en).

### **Invitation links**

The invitation link allows you to create a sign-up link to provide free access to specific spaces and space groups, create a trial paywall subscription, and apply member tags when a new member joins your community using the link.

📚 For a step-by-step guide on creating invitation links, see [Set up an invitation link](/p/audience/onboarding/set-up-an-invitation-link).

### **Integrations**

If you would like to set up automation configuring a specific trigger in Circle or any third-party app that results in an action to invite members to your community, you can use Circle integration with automation platforms like [**Zapier**](https://zapier.com/apps/circle/integrations).

For example, you can set up automation in Zapier that triggers **When a new form response is submitted in Google Forms** and results in the **Invite member** action. To learn more about setting this up in Zapier, see [Automate new member invites using Zapier](/p/audience/onboarding/automate-new-member-invites-using-zapier).

> 💡 **Tip:** If you wish to use another platform to create an automated workflow for this, you can also consider alternative tools such as [**Make**](https://www.make.com/en/integrations/circle-so) or [**Integrately**](https://help.circle.so/c/zapier-automations/how-do-i-integrate-with-integrately) **.**

> ℹ️ **Note:** If you're using SSO, this is a great method to set members up with access before they join. Always use the **Invite Member** action to grant access to spaces and groups. This provides more flexibility than the **Add to Space or Space Group** action and helps prevent errors if the Zapier integration runs before a member has set up their profile.
>
> You can additionally select tags, map fields, and more! We recommend setting the **Skip Invitation Email** field to **True**. Members won't need an invite email with SSO and can immediately access your community once they have credentials.

## **Share paywall checkout URL**

Paywalls allow you to charge your members for access to the community via subscriptions or one-time payments.

When using the paywall for your community, we recommend using this method to onboard members via the checkout URL of a particular paywall. When you create a paywall, a checkout URL is generated, which should be shared with potential members to have them go through the checkout process.

📚 For information on using the paywall checkout URL, see [Onboard members to your community via paywalls](/p/payments/paywall-setup/onboard-members-to-your-community-via-paywalls).
