Verify your site with Google Search Console

Last updated: October, 2026

You can verify your site in Google Search Console to prove ownership. This lets you track your community’s search performance, request indexing, and access search analytics. In this article, we’ll walk you through how to verify your site using the Domain method.

❗️Important: If you’re using a custom domain, make sure it’s fully connected and live.

Verify your site

To verify your site:

1: Sign in to Google Search Console

  1. Go to Google Search Console and sign in.

  2. Choose Domain as the property type.

    1. If you already have a Search Console account and have verified other domains, click the dropdown beside the current domain in the top right corner of your dashboard and select Add property → Domain.

  3. Enter your community’s custom domain (for example, community.yourdomain.com) and select Continue.

  4. Google will generate a TXT record for you to add to your domain settings.

2: Add the TXT record to your domain provider

If your domain is managed by a provider like Google Domains, GoDaddy, or Cloudflare, follow their instructions to add a new TXT record.

  1. Copy the TXT record provided in Google Search Console.

  2. Go to your domain provider’s DNS settings.

  3. Add a new TXT record using the following details:

    • Name (Host): @

    • Value: Paste the TXT record from Google Search Console.

  4. Save your changes.

ℹ️ Note: It can take a few hours for DNS updates to take effect.

3: Complete verification in Google Search Console

  1. Return to Google Search Console and click Verify.

  2. Once Google confirms ownership, you’ll see a success message saying your domain is verified.

💡 Tip: If verification doesn’t complete right away, wait a few hours and try again.

Find your Google verification ID

To find your Google verification ID in the Search Console:

  1. Open Google Search Console and select your verified property (your community domain).

  2. Go to Settings →Users and permissions.

  3. Find your user (this is typically the site owner’s name), click the More actions (three dots) icon and select Ownership verification details.

  4. Copy the value under Domain name provider.

    1. For example, the value should look like this: google-site-verification=xyz123.

    2. The verification ID is everything after = so from this example, the ID is xyz123.

  5. You’ll use this ID in the next step inside Circle.

4: Add your verification ID in Circle

To make it easier for Google to verify and track your site, add your verification ID directly in Circle.

  1. Click the community name or logo (or the dropdown icon next to it) in the top-left corner and select Settings.

  2. Scroll down to the Website section and select SEO.

  3. In the Google site verification ID field, paste the ID from Google Search Console.

  4. Click Save.

Confirm verification

Once verification is complete, your domain will appear as a verified property in your Google Search Console dashboard. You can now access your search analytics, submit a sitemap, and monitor indexing. Please note that it may take 24 to 48 hours for the data to be visible.
