To help you collect and display member information in the most suitable format, we offer six versatile field types. Each field type is designed to accommodate specific data needs, ensuring flexibility and precision in how information is gathered and presented.

## **Short text**

The short text field is designed for capturing brief, structured responses, making it ideal for straightforward data points like company names, addresses, job titles, or simple identifiers such as usernames or membership IDs.

Responses for short text fields are restricted to **255 characters**.

## **Long text**

For detailed, free-form responses, the long text field allows members to provide in-depth information or creative content, such as biographies, personal or professional goals, or user stories.

Supporting up to **65,535 characters** , this field accommodates extensive text entries, making it suitable for qualitative data collection. To maintain relevance, we suggest setting clear guidelines for responses.

## **Dropdown**

The dropdown field streamlines data collection by allowing members to select a single option from a predefined list. This field reduces input errors by limiting choices to pre-approved options and enhances data accuracy.

You can create unlimited options (up to 255 characters each) and drag and drop them to arrange the list as needed. This makes the field ideal for selecting professional roles, geographic regions, or preferred contact methods.

## **Link**

The link field facilitates the submission of hyperlinks to external resources, such as social media profiles, personal or organizational websites, portfolio pages, or other relevant online content.

The link field automatically prepends https:// if members submit a URL without it. It also validates entries to ensure properly formatted, functional URLs, displaying an error message for invalid inputs like linkedin instead of [linkedin.com](http://linkedin.com).

## **Number**

The number field is tailored for collecting quantitative data, such as age, years of experience, contact numbers, or performance metrics, with customizable formatting to suit various needs.

You can choose from predefined format options: **Number** , **Percentage** , **Custom** , or **Unformatted** for raw numerical input. For number, percentage, and custom formats, you can specify up to five decimal places to control precision.

This flexibility ensures precise data collection that is aligned with your community’s requirements.

## **Checkbox**

The checkbox field allows members to select one or more options from a predefined set, providing flexibility for scenarios that require multiple selections.

You can create unlimited options (up to 255 characters each) and drag and drop them to arrange the list as needed, making this field suitable for capturing diverse attributes like areas of expertise, interests, or event attendance preferences.
