About posts and comments analytics

Post and comment analytics provide detailed insights into activity and engagement within your community's post and image spaces. Use these metrics to track performance, understand member behavior, and optimize your content strategy.

This dashboard helps you provide answers to questions such as:

  • How much post type content is being generated in the community?

    • Check out the Total posts and Total comments metric to understand the level of interaction and discussion happening in your community.

  • When are members most active in creating posts and comments?

    • Utilize the New posts and New comments graphs to track posting activity that helps you identify patterns in member interactions.

  • What type of content generates the most engagement?

    • Analyze the Popular posts and Popular comments leaderboards to understand which type of content is well-received within your community.

  • Are members or visitors driving most of the views?

    • Compare the Unique member post views and Unique public post views to understand who is driving the most views. This helps you understand where your reach is coming from and whether your content is staying within the community or attracting a wider audience.

  • When are post views highest?

    • Use the Post views graph to identify spikes or dips in views across different timeframes. This can help you connect view patterns to specific campaigns, spaces, or events you hosted that may have increased post engagement.

Access the posts and comments dashboard

To access the dashboard, click Analytics in the left sidebar, then select Posts & Comments.

Optimize dashboard usage with the following options

  • Member type: Filter analytics data by roles within your community. By default, the member option is selected, which includes both member and moderator roles. You can choose to include admin roles in the analytics data by selecting the admin option in the filter.

  • Filters: Utilize filters to segment your data by member tags, profile fields, post spaces, space groups, join dates, and more.

  • Date range (time frame): Narrow down the data to the specific time frame for detailed analysis. You can select a predefined date range or set a custom date range.

  • Data grouping: Use data grouping options to analyze graph data within the dashboard at specific intervals, such as daily, weekly, and monthly.

  • Data sorting: Sort data within leaderboards by clicking column titles. Depending on the data type, you can sort by value (lowest to highest) or alphabetically.

  • Previous period comparison: Compare your current metrics to historical performance from the previous period, month or year to understand how your metrics are trending over time. Choose your reference from the comparison dropdown next to the date range.

  • Highlight graph data: Hover over the values in the graph to enhance your viewing experience. This will highlight the relevant bars/data points within the graph for better visibility. When relevant, you can also see detailed data for the particular bar or data point on hover.

  • Download results: You can easily export graphs, tables, and other data from analytics to your device in formats such as CSV, XLSX, or JSON. Simply hover over it, click the More actions (three dots) icon, and select Download results. Then, choose your preferred format to save the file.

Activity metrics

These metrics provide you with an overview of the volume of content within the community.

Total posts

Check out the total number of posts published within the selected time frame. This metric provides a comprehensive overview of the amount of content generated by members (including member and moderator roles) and/or admins based on your member-type filter selection.

Total comments

This is the total number of comments made on posts within the selected time frame. This helps you gauge the level of interaction and discussion occurring across various spaces.

Member posts

This is the percentage of total posts made by members within the selected time frame, excluding moderators and admins.

Monitor this metric to see what percentage of posts are member-led and how healthy your community is in terms of member’s involvement in content generation. You can also utilize filters to narrow down the metric to certain member segments.

This helps you consider initiatives to encourage more member-led content within your community.

Post views

Post view metrics help you understand how many people are seeing your posts and how that changes over time.

Key things to know about post view tracking

  • Tracking start date: Post views are tracked starting July 1, 2025. Posts created before this date will only start recording views from July 1 onward. So, you might notice older posts showing zero or low view counts.

  • What counts as a post view: A view is counted only when a member opens the post, either in a pop-up (by clicking the post title) or in full-screen view.

  • Where views are tracked: Post views are tracked across all supported platforms. This includes the desktop app, desktop and mobile browsers, Circle mobile apps, and branded apps.

Total post views

This number shows how many times posts were viewed during the time period you selected. It includes both community members and visitors (public). If someone viewed a post more than once, each view is counted.

Unique member post views

This shows how many times each post was viewed by community members. It counts each member only once per post, even if they view it multiple times. This helps you see how many unique members are engaging with your posts.

Unique public post views

This tells you how many times people outside your community (we call them non-members or visitors) viewed posts visible to them. Like unique member views, it only counts each user once per post, regardless of how many times they return to it.

Post views

This graph shows how post views have changed over time based on your selected time frame and data grouping. It includes total views, unique member views, and unique public views.

You can use this graph to track trends over daily, weekly, or monthly. It can help you spot when post views increased or dropped, and whether that interest came from members or the public. Hover over each point to see the exact numbers.
