About device analytics

Device analytics provide detailed insights into how your members engage with and access your community across devices and platforms, including desktop and mobile web browsers and the Circle iOS and Android apps.

This dashboard helps you understand the device usage pattern, member’s device preferences, and adoptions, which can inform your content and community management strategies.

If you are on our Circle Plus plan, the device dashboard will show the analytics data for your branded iOS and Android apps.

This dashboard helps you provide answers to questions such as:

  • How are members of certain segments using devices?

    • You can see how members with specific tags, members of certain spaces, and space groups use devices to interact within your community.

    • For instance, if you want to find data on how members of the “Welcome” space group have been engaging within the community over the last four weeks, you can select that date range and apply the space group member filter.

  • What has mobile adoption been like within the x amount of time?

    • Use the date range to gain insights into how many devices access your community via mobile web, iOS, and Android apps over a given period.

    • Utilize these insights to drive engagement to mobile apps by encouraging your members to download and access the community on the go.

  • Who is most active on mobile apps?

    • Utilize the Most active on mobile metric to see which members are most active on mobile apps with a number of sessions within your defined date range and filters.

Access device dashboard

To access the dashboard, click Analytics in the left sidebar, then select Devices.

ℹ️ Note: Member activity metrics, including DAU, MAU, and active session tracking, are measured using real-time, client-side tracking for improved accuracy. Learn more about how this works here.

Optimize dashboard usage with the following options

  • Member type: Filter analytics data by roles within your community. By default, the member option is selected, which includes both member and moderator roles. You can choose to include admin roles in the analytics data by selecting the admin option in the filter.

  • Filters: Utilize filters to segment your data by member tags, profile fields, space members, space group members, join dates, and more.

  • Date range (time frame): Narrow down the data to the specific time frame for detailed analysis. You can select a predefined date range or set a custom date range.

  • Data grouping: Use data grouping options to analyze graph data within the dashboard at specific intervals, such as daily, weekly, and monthly.

  • Data sorting: Sort data within leaderboards and the heat map by clicking column titles. Depending on the data type, you can sort by value (lowest to highest) or alphabetically.

  • Previous period comparison: Compare your current metrics to historical performance from the previous period, month or year to understand how your metrics are trending over time. Choose your reference from the comparison dropdown next to the date range.

  • Highlight graph data: Hover over the values in the graph to enhance your viewing experience. This will highlight the relevant bars/data points within the graph for better visibility. When relevant, you can also see detailed data for the particular bar or data point on hover.

  • Download results: You can easily export graphs, tables, and other data from analytics to your device in formats such as CSV, XLSX, or JSON. Simply hover over it, click the More actions (three dots) icon, and select Download results. Then, choose your preferred format to save the file.
